The Adelaide Collection is an annual mixed auction of fine art, decorative arts, fine furniture, jewellery and collectables. The auction is the largest and most diverse held at Bonhams & Goodman’s Adelaide rooms each year. This year’s sale is no exception; there is something on offer to suit all tastes and budgets.
Session One kicks off on Monday 26 November and features some wonderful objects including antique furniture, English, continental and oriental porcelain, sterling silver, jewellery, oriental rugs, chandeliers and collectables. Highlights amongst the 460 lots to be offered at this session include a large selection of widely collected Royal Doulton character jugs; Staffordshire, Royal Worcester, Royal Crown Derby and Dresden porcelain; Georg Jensen ‘Old Danish’ pattern sterling silver flatware for 10 people; a superb Venetian smoky quartz coloured chandelier; an Andre Abbal bronze figure group depicting a ploughman and two oxen, signed and dated 1911; a William IV rosewood card table with facetted column and platform base and a Regency mahogany secretaire bookcase.
Session Two on Tuesday 27 November focuses on edged weapons, books pertaining to Australia’s discovery and settlement and Australian and international paintings. Highlights amongst the 320 lots include Lot 905, a beautiful Hans Heysen (1877-1968) watercolour titled Ambleside 1916; Lot 888, a Kevin Charles (Pro) Hart (1928-2006) oil on board titled Stringy Bark Creek and Lot 907, a delightful oil by Roy De Maistre (1894-1968) titled Shoalhaven.
The sale will take place at Bonhams & Goodman’s Adelaide rooms, 444 -446 Pulteney Street, Adelaide.
