Steve Irwin items on eBay

eBay currently lists 493 Irwin items for sale in Australia and 1723 in the US – the vast majority of which have appeared since Monday.
The current piece de resistance is a framed “authentic uniform worn by Steve ‘the Croc Hunter’ Irwin†with a signed photo of him in action at Australia Zoo†which has so far attracted bids of $5400.
Also up for grabs in Australia are personalised Victorian Number Plates SIRWIN (S.IRWIN) which the seller boasts come in crocodile green. The starting bid has been set at $2202.62 to honour Irwin’s birthdate.
On the US site, a domain name: RememberingSteveIrwin.com has been listed at $US1500 ($1950) – but is only for sale to genuine fans of Irwin. “We want to transfer it to someone who will honor his memory and do a biographical/educational or memorial type of website,†writes the seller.
Local eBay spokesman, Daniel Feiler said Irwin items had always sold well because of his international profile, but added that the company did have a policy in place to exclude profiteering from someone’s misfortune or demise.
