BCNA Auction

SHANE Crawford will sign and present a pair of pink boots to the highest bidder to raise money for Breast Cancer Network Australia.

The Hawthorn star planned to wear the boots in Saturday night’s Mothers’ Day round clash against the Brisbane Lions at Carrara before being sidelined with shin soreness.

But he is confident of raising money for BCNA — a national organisation which assists women battling cancer.

“It was going to be pretty daunting . . . going up to Queensland and playing the Lions wearing pink boots,” Crawford said. “I had a few sleepless nights thinking about it.”

Every day 32 women in Australia are told they have breast cancer and about 2700 people die each year from it. Jo Ruff, 31, was told she had breast cancer five years ago after she noticed a lump while showering. But, after extensive treatment and support, she is looking towards a healthy life.

Crawford will promote the signed pink boots tonight on The Footy Show. To bid log on to BCNA’s website, www.bcna.org.au.

The auction opened at midnight and will run for 24 hours.
