Inglis Yearling Auction

Published April 16th, 2006

AUSTRALIA’S biggest yearling sale gets under way in Sydney tomorrow, striking a huge moral victory over major northern hemisphere sales which have chosen to run at the same time.
William Inglis and Son will conduct the three-day Australian Yearling sale at its Newmarket complex over three days.

The sale will run in the face of a snub from fellow auction houses Tattersalls, with a two-day Breeze-Up sale starting in England on Wednesday, and the Keeneland Association, with the April In-Training sale scheduled for tonight in the US.

But the world’s two biggest bloodstock buyers, Demi O’Byrne, representing the Coolmore Studs, and John Ferguson, the bloodstock manager for Sheikh Mohammed’s Darley Studs and Godolphin Racing, will be among bidders at the Inglis complex.

"It’s rather disappointing that the two important north hemisphere sales clash with ours," Reg Inglis, managing director of Inglis, said yesterday.
